The forest property consists of 16.83 ha, species include Picea sitchensis (SS) and Picae abies (Norway Spruce). This forest was established via the afforestation grant system, and was planted in 1994. The forest has plenty of internal hedgerows to enhance the biodiversity value of the forest. A grant aided harvest road was constructed in 2009 and is 385m long.
The forest is located in the townland of Ballygorteen approximately 3 km northwest of Paulstown in County Kilkenny and approximately 9.2 km from Bagenalstown in County Carlow.
