Description

The forest property consists of 15.67 ha, species include Picea sitchensis {Sitka Spruce) and Larix kaempferi (Japanese Larch) and additional broadleaves (Whitehorn, oak, birch, alder and rowan).

This forest is located in the townland of Powerswood circa 4km west-southwest of Inistioge, in County Kilkenny and was established via the afforestation grant system. The forest has plenty of internal hedgerows to enhance the biodiversity value of the forest. A grant aided turning area (40m) was constructed in 2007, to the western side of the property at sub-comp 2.

The area was planted in 1991 (Approx. 4.36 ha), 2008 (Approx. 5.8 ha), 2018 (Approx. 1.6 ha) and 2022 (Approx. 3.88) ha.
